Veteran Biographies

Interviews have been conducted with some of our esteemed WWII veterans or their widows, and in some cases a child or relative, which have contributed to the composition of short biographies describing a veterans life.

The intention was to present an outline of our a subjects entire lives, to achieve a full appreciation of these veterans and their contribution to Canada as civilians in times of peace and through their war time service with the First Hussars.

The war fought across Europe in 1944-45 has deprived us of 196 proud Canadians, the memory of those soldiers now displayed on graves and memorials overseas. The 1st Hussar families contacted maintain their respect for these men, and others who have passed on since the war, by preserving personal files and mementos honouring their loved ones, which they readily share on these pages.

Please read and enjoy these biographies. The intention is to release more biographies as they become available. The 1st Hussars is more than a Regiment – we are a family.
