At H-hour, while occupying a troop hide, Trooper Gotzmeister’s callsign came under immediate threat from an enemy anti-tank section attacking from the left flank. Recognizing the danger, Trooper Gotzmeister rapidly engaged the enemy with his personal weapon, neutralizing the threat before it could deploy anti-tank ordnance. This prompt and aggressive response prevented casualties within the troop and directly enabled the troop to continue its mission in support of the Battle Group’s attack.
